You need to have the will to want to do so. It’s not so much about diamond buyers vs non buyers, as alrwady stated he doesn’t buy them and has learned how to play successfully and compete with those that do. That or strategize (oh goodie again!) how to defend yourself properly from other players. That or strategize (there’s that word again) how to set up a self sufficient Questing Farm that has all buildings motivated daily preventing Plundering from occurring.

Yes the only true way to defeat plunderers is to strategize (hey how bout that) your productions in a way you will be able to collect them on time. The beauty of the plunder mechanic here is that 1 player can only take 1 production from every 1 attack they succeed upon your city. Would you much rather the Diamond Buyer be able to steal ALL of your productions everyday? If so than go play one of those games. This is after all, a strategy game, by which you must strategize every move you make if you wish to compete with players that have strategized their own game. The fact that you think you shouldn’t have to plan out every move in this game is histerical. The most someone that does pay gets out of things is potentially buying prints (note they still need at least 1 print to buy a full set), buy special buildings like SoK (which btw you can earn in an event if you plan out how you spend event currency), heal their troops so they don’t have to train or acquire more, or buy fps outright (which would be a HUGE waste of Diamonds considering fps are so easy to come by in other places) everyone that doesn’t pay is on the same footing as someone that does pay.
